Talkin' Taffy

Our customers ask us all the time what our favorite candy is.

Well, I must confess I'm partial to taffy.  That's why we have an old fashioned bathtub right in the front of our store brimming with taffy pieces.

It's one of the center pieces of our little candy store and a great topic of conversation; and despite its name 'salt water taffy' doesn't contain any salt!  Legend has it that salt water taffy was 'invented' in Atlantic City, New Jersey when a local store owner's candy store was flooded and his taffy stock became saturated with ocean salt water.

Modern taffy is made by stretching a mass of sticky boiled corn syrup, glycerin, and butter; and adding coloring and flavors. When this process is complete, the taffy is rolled, cut into small pastel-coloured pieces and wrapped in wax paper to keep it soft.
